Dell Technologies is rolling out its PowerStore Elite storage system in India, targeting enterprises that need to scale AI workloads while keeping data sovereign and secure. The announcement comes as Indian chief information and technology officers face mounting pressure to turn AI experiments into real business results.
“For India’s CIOs and CTOs, the AI era has three non-negotiables: speed of deployment, sovereignty of data and measurable return on infrastructure,” said Venkat Sitaram, Senior Director and Country Head of Dell’s Infrastructure Solutions Group in India.
Sitaram also pointed to the new Dell AI Ecosystem, which brings Google, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Hugging Face, Palantir, SpaceXAI and ServiceNow onto a single, on-premise infrastructure platform. He called it an ecosystem advantage that lets Indian enterprises move from AI experimentation to AI leadership.
Storage built for agentic AI
At the center of the announcement is PowerStore Elite, positioned by the vendor as a way to eliminate the traditional storage refresh cycle for enterprises dealing with explosive data growth alongside AI workloads. Built on industry-standard E3 NVMe flash.

Dell frames this as critical for agentic AI — systems where AI agents need close proximity to enterprise data, along with access, context and lineage to operate accurately at production scale.
Alongside the hardware, Dell Cyber Detect will extend AI-powered ransomware detection into the storage layer for PowerStore starting in the third quarter of 2026.
One slightly awkward part of the pitch: Dell is betting that Indian enterprises will trust an on-premise AI stack over cloud-first alternatives, a bet that may not hold across every sector.
Expanding the agentic AI portfolio
The company has also broadened the Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA into what it describes as a complete on-premise foundation for agentic AI. These systems can reason, plan and execute complex workflows autonomously without data leaving the organization. The firm positions this as particularly relevant for regulated Indian sectors — financial services, healthcare, legal and the public sector — where sovereign, production-scale AI is a priority.

Within this portfolio, Dell Deskside Agentic AI lets workgroups deploy autonomous AI agents locally, handling models ranging from 30 billion to 1 trillion parameters. With NVIDIA OpenShell now supported across the entire Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA, workloads that begin at the desk can scale to the data center under a single security and governance framework.
Dell PowerRack, described by the company as the industry’s first fully integrated rack-scale AI system combining compute, networking and storage, is designed to move enterprises from delivery to production in under 6.5 hours. As the first system built on the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform.
Private cloud and Indian deployment
PowerStore Elite also underpins Dell Private Cloud, delivered through the Dell Automation Platform. This gives organizations a standardized foundation unifying compute, storage and networking while supporting preferred cloud stacks from Broadcom, Microsoft, Nutanix and Red Hat on open, disaggregated Dell infrastructure.
New ecosystem support includes VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1, Microsoft Azure Local, and integration between Dell PowerStore Elite and Nutanix AHV, giving Indian enterprises additional flexibility in how they modernize their infrastructure.

On the customer side, the company cited Omega Healthcare Management Services, which supports leading U.S. hospitals through round-the-clock global operations, as having modernized its core IT foundation using Dell Private Cloud. The deployment unified PowerEdge compute, PowerStore storage and PowerConnect networking across delivery centers, enabling independent scaling and consistent performance for a follow-the-sun delivery model where downtime is not an option.
It’s a safe reference — a known customer with a clear use case — but the vendor didn’t name any Indian client yet for the new storage system.
Availability
Dell PowerStore Elite will be available from August 2026, with Dell Cyber Detect for PowerStore following in September 2026. Dell Private Cloud with Nutanix and PowerStore integration is set for July 2026. Dell PowerRack for compute, Dell Deskside Agentic AI, Dell Private Cloud with VMware VCF 9.1 and Microsoft Azure Local, and Dell Automation Studio are available all now.
